About the Artist

I am Elisa Miller

Painting has been with me since childhood, but it was only after a spark during my Erasmus exchange in Ireland that I decided to fully commit to this vocation. It has now been a year since I dedicated myself to my work as a painter.

After many artistic experimentations, I have refined my world, one that is sensitive and dreamlike, inspired by nature, the skies, and the extraordinary within the everyday. I try to capture the fleeting, to offer a poetic pause, a suspended moment. Through my canvases, I seek to awaken contemplation, and to invite escape and reverie.

Several painters inspire me every day: Sorolla's treatment of light, the brushstrokes and the gazes in Renoir's faces, the delicacy of Botticelli, the movement of Van Gogh.

But also contemporary artists: the grand works between realism, surrealism and abstraction of Ella Baudinet, the treatment of movement and colour in Maria Guimaraes's portraits, the gentleness and nostalgia of Jimena Agra's subjects.

To me, it is essential never to stop learning and refining one's craft. That is why I continue to take life-drawing classes as well as painting workshops at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.

In my daily practice, I enjoy exploring a variety of exercises, blending pictorial techniques with more intuitive approaches.

My primary source of inspiration remains nature: it is essential for me to regularly step outside my studio to nourish my balance as an artist.
